Extraordinary Voyages

The world today sometimes seems very grey and plastic and dull. But if you look hard enough you can find some amazing creativity. I’m not usually into Disney, but this is SP brilliance!

This site also has *many* excellent posts and outstanding images eg, one on “Kyoto: Tradition, Temples and Trains“. I drool over the steam trains but the other pics are wonderful too. Also see the many posts on old movies eg: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1907).

The Beauty of Steampunk

In a world that’s increasingly alienating and alienated by plastic sameness and McLife ™, I wonder how we can recapture beauty? It’s refreshing seeing so many Steampunk inventions that inspire, excite and awe by their sheer gloriousness. I’ve been thrilled by some of the steam bikes out there and bought a second-hand bike and some old bits to build one of my own. Here’s 2 pics , one fromhttp://www.brassgoggles.co.uk/brassgoggles/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/ (I can’t remember where I got the other one from, probably same place. )

Transport should have an element of beauty. How can you see the beauty around sitting in a plastic rectangle? Anyway, enjoy:
